A new website for a new product

Dear Gamebuinians,

You may have noticed that we started rolling out a new website (how could you not notice).

So... welcome!

Please note that everything is under construction, and we will be continuously developing both the website and the content for the years to come. Like, seriously. We took quite a fresh start and wrote everything from scratch over the last months (kudos to Hastatis and Unit&Co). As I keep saying, this is just the beginning. It has been years, and trust me it has never been more true.

If you have any suggestion or bug report, please post on the topic Website bug reports & requests of our brand new community!

Don't worry the Gamebuino legacy is not gone, we kept the old forum and wiki online, but they will soon end up read-only. Note that all the existing links should redirect just fine.

Stay tuned!

But I can still post games for the old gamebuino on the new site? Because my old account is gone.

I was a supporter of Gamebuino from the start on and did enjoy it quite a bit, but now I am really disliking the new website and especially that the old forum and wiki are just scrapped. They were great and now it should all start from scratch. Horrible!

Especially for a new, overpriced 100€ handheld that in my opinion just does not continue the legacy of the old one.

I liked the old one with it's quirks (the battery that always died, the bad but still charming screen), but the new breaks with the simplicity and style of the previous model.

But the thing I am the most annoyed about is that you don't even try to import the posts into the new system and just make it read-only. There are scripts for just about any CMS and BBS to import from others. Not even trying.

I'm sorry you feel that way.

We don't scrap the old website, the forum and wiki are still accessible and all the content is still there.

Sadly, importing the content was not an option because it would have taken a lot of time and thus being very expensive. It was not really needed as the old forum is still accessible. There is no script to import all the posts just like that, because the new website is written from scratch... but we spent a lot of time migrating the old forum and wiki, and ensuring all the links are redirected properly so nothing breaks. Legacy is not gone.

It's not starting from scratch, because the the Gamebuino META is backward compatible, so all the games should be ported pretty quickly. And you can post on the new Community about project on the classic Gamebuino.

We are moving forward, but we are not scrapping our legacy.

Thank you for taking your time to reply.

The early days here were really quite fun, but things, once again, probably just have to move on.

I wish you the best of luck with your new campaign. However, I really had wished you would have kept offering both handhelds alongside each other instead of completely retiring the old one. It's not fun to develop for a legacy product anymore that has just been EOL'ed. I see you have decided to keep the API similar, but this is still somewhat splitting the new from the old community.
